Heel slip is one of the most common fit problems, especially in engineer boots and other pull-ons. A full insole can fix it, but it also eats up toe room. That's why I designed the half insole.
What is a half insole?
It's a heel seat cut from 15 oz Hermann Oak veg tan and hand-skived so it tapers off toward the front. It raises your heel and fills extra room in the heel or instep, without crowding your toes.
Standard or long?
- Standard: the skiving starts at the arch, so it mainly lifts the heel.
- Long: the skiving starts one inch past the arch, so it also fills some of the instep.
Single or double?
A single is one layer of thick 15 oz leather. A double is two layers stacked, for twice the heel lift. Either way you get a pair.
Sizing
Order your boot size. The best fit can vary by brand and last, so message me if you're unsure.
Still have too much room?
If the whole boot is big, not just the heel, a full insole may be the better fix. See how to choose an insole thickness. I can also make custom insoles, like a thick heel skived thin toward the toe.
